§ 245.030. Police Authorized To Stop Minors To Inquire As To Parental Knowledge or Consent.

  • A. 
    It shall be the duty of the Police Department of the City of Palmyra to require identification from any minor present in or on any public place within the City of Palmyra during the hours specified in Section 245.020, and whose actions, appearance, demeanor, or other fact within the knowledge of the police officer give rise to a reasonable belief that the person is a minor. Such identification shall include the person's name, age, and home address.
    B. 
    If the person stopped in question is not a minor, the person shall be allowed to proceed freely with no record made of the inquiry.
    C. 
    If the person stopped and questioned is a minor, the police officer shall inquire the person's home phone number or phone number of the person's parent or legal guardian having care and custody of such minor, and whether or not the parent or legal guardian having care and custody of such minor has knowledge or has given consent to the presence of said minor in or on the public place involved, and the name of said parent or legal guardian.
